 Rehab center offers laser technology

STEELE CREEK -- Ayrsley Town Rehabilitation (ATR) at 2064A Ayrsley Town Blvd. offers new laser technology in Charlotte, the first FDA approved laser in the United States for pain.

According to the company's Web site ayrsleyrehab.com, ATR is the first physical therapy clinic in the Charlotte area to offer this technology for treatment. The ML830 Laser is a conservative, non- invasive treatment that has been used by the New England Patriots and the Olympic Training Committee for their athletes and was featured on the nationally syndicated television show "The Doctor's" in November.

The patented 830nm wavelength has been scientifically proven to penetrate the skin without thermal change, when it reaches the target area it interacts with the light sensitive elements in the cell. It stimulates the cellular metabolism and increases the ability of the cell to cleanse itself of painful waste products. Those treated report a reduction in pain, inflammation, edema and an overall reduction in healing time with the use of the 830 laser.

This can be seen as an alternative to injections and pharmaceuticals for pain relief for those experiencing arthritis pain, back pain, carpal tunnel, fibromyalgia, knee pain, shoulder pain, neck pain and tendonitis.

Ayrsley Town Rehabilitation was opened by Christopher Stulginsky and Alex Gomez in October 2008. Stulginsky is a 2003 graduate of the physical therapy program at The Rangos School of Health Sciences at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. After graduation he spent four years as a travel physical therapist working throughout the United States. His travel background afforded him the opportunity to learn various techniques and about different technologies being used around the country.

Additionally, he has worked in multiple settings and multiple institutions including: The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore; Friday Harbor Physical Therapy in Friday Harbor, Wash.; Mercy Hospital, West Suburban Sports and Rehabilitation Clinic and Westlake Hospital in Chicago.
